Antique 1806 Inquisitions Post Mortem Leather Bound Books George III Set of 4 | retrovation

Here for sale is a fantastic rare collection of antique early 19th Century books. They are a record of deaths (inquisitions post mortem) covering the periods from Henry III onwards. Inquisitions post mortem were local inquiries into valuable properties, in order to discover what income and rights were due to the crown and who the heir should be.

These are printed by command of George III and would have important historical documents of the time. Early editions like these are rarely seen. The pages are thick with old English language. Each edition is a different year starting from 1806 and the latest 1821. As well as being historically important, these large books look absolutely stunning and would make great statement pieces in an interior.

Condition

Distress to binding, spine and cover. Detached covers, wear and foxing to some pages. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.

Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.

Dimensions

29 cm width, 4 cm depth, 47 cm height
