A fantastic antique pair of books. Titled 'The Sexagenarian; or, the Recollections of a Literary Life'. In two volumes and printed for F.C. and J Rivington. Rivington were London based publishers founded as book sellers in 1736. With personal library plate for Sir Robert Johnson Eden Baronet. Including crest and The Latin phrase "Si sit prudentia" translates to "If there is prudence". He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Eden of West Auckland, Co. Durham in 1812.
Fine leather binding with gilt embossed spine. One book is missing its title panel to the spine. They have a wonderful timeworn patina which adds to there charm. A fabulous period set of book. Perfect for any collector, or to read and enjoy.
Condition
Tight binding. Bumped corners and spine. Foxing to some pages. Split spines to top but fully attached. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
