A fantastic antique tea caddy. Made from English silver plate and fully marked by the maker, A B * S, for Henry Atkin and Sons. The firm was originally established by Thomas Law in the middle part of the 18th Century. It was taken over by Henry Atkins and John Oxley trding as Atkin, Oxley & Co. The partnership was dissolved and in 1840 Henry Atkin continued. This fabulous piece dates from the middle part of the 19th Century. It has the most wondeful engraving and repousse embossed design. Tea drinking was the height of fashion and this piece would have been a prized possession. A fabulous period piece, perfect to use and enjoy.
Condition
Tarnishing to silver plate as we have only given it a light clean. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
