A fantastic antique bound book. It is a copy of the Life of Christ by Reverend John Fleetwood. Bound in half leather with gilt lettering to spine. It has the most delightful personal inscription to the front. A girl by the name of 'Phenice Park' was given the book by her aunt, Fanny Beer Bideford in 1852. The inscription goes on to say:

'Phenice is my name,

England is my nation,

Shirwell is my dwelling place,

Christ is my salvation,

When I am dead and in my grave,

and all my bones are rotten,

This whole book with left my name,

when I will be quite forgotten'.

This is a lovely period book, with many black and white illustrations. It has been well used and cherished. A wonderful example with history. Perfect for any collector or to read and enjoy.

Condition

Split spine. Bumped corners and spine. Foxing and staining to some pages. Shows lots of signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.

Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.

Dimensions

22 cm width, 7 cm depth, 28 cm height
