A fantastic fine antique Victorian stationery cabinet with label for Shoolbred and Company and a prize plaque for 1881. 
James Shoolbred and Company was founded in 1822 and occupied large premises in Tottenham Court Road known as Tottenham house. They were originally drapers, but expanded to manufacture and retail quality furniture. The prize plaque is from the ladies of Tottenham house so presumably with links to the company. The plaque is for THAC for the 250 yard flat rate, first prize to L. S Dickson. 
Made from burr walnut with brass corner and strapping inlay. The cabinet has a working Bramah lock and original key. The doors open to reveal a fitted interior including a beautiful perpetual calendar. There is a button on the top that releases a concealed writing slope that once removed can be openend to reveal further compartments and includes original ink wells. 
This is a wonderful quality cabinet that has a fascinating history and has survived intact. A perfect gift or to use and enjoy.
Condition
Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
