A fantastic antique box. Made in Burma and dates from the beginning of the 20th Century around 1910. Known as a 'Betel' box and used for snacks especially the bezelnut. These types of boxes were mutifunctional, and not only used for snacks but tiffin boxes to be used at lunchtime. Made from a woven grass or bamboo. Consisting of a top base and two internal bowls or dishes, which nests together. This is a loved piece and has a wonderful timeworn patina. With a fabulous muted colour to the lacquer and remains of a label to the top. A stunning period piece, perfect to use and enjoy.
Condition
Area of box has broken off, we have the piece. Cracking to lacquer in places. Shows lots of signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
