Here for sale is a fantastic antique typewriter by Remington. Remington were one of the forerunners of typewriters with the model 1 being produced in 1875.
The number 12 was Remington's answer to the increasingly popular Underwood typewriter which allows the typist to see what they are typing. It was introduced around 1920. This model based on the serial number LC51899 is around 1925 so nearly 100 years old.
It was never as popular as the Underwood and retains some quirks of the older model such as the reels being hidden inside the body rather than being on top of the body (this didn't change on the Remington until later). However, it is really lovely to use.
The quality of the production is shown in the fact that this has not been overhauled, it is very worn and a bit rusty, but we gave it an oil changed the ink and are still able to type with it.
Wear to the body, signs of rust, old rollers, a bit slow on the space bar. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
