A fantastic antique book. Titled 'Stories of the Painters' and is written by Amy Steedman. There are 32 lovely colour plates and 39 black and white drawings. It has a lovely embossed green hardcover and has rough cut edge to the pages. Dates from the 1930s and is rare.
There are lots of sections examining the different European schools of art. This includes sections on The Italian School of Painting, The Spanish School, The Flemish School, The German School, The Dutch and Later Flemish Schools, The French School, and The English School. The art history of many artist including Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Velazquez, Goya, Hans Memlinc, Holbein, Albrecht Durer, Rubens, Rembrandt, John Constable, Gainsborough, and Joshua Reynolds. A fabulous book perfect for any collector or to read and enjoy.
Condition
Bumped and scuffed corners. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
