Here for sale is a fantastic leather ammunitions case stamped to the underneath with No 65 III and BH&G Ltd. The Maker Barrow, Hepburn & Gale of Bermondsey through a series of mergers came to be one of the largest leather companies in London. The company history goes back to 1760 when John Hepburn set up this first tannery in Bermondsey. During the Second World War they were called upon by the War Department to make leather goods for soldiers, sailors and airmen.
No date is visible, but similar can be found stamped for 1939, so dates from the Second World War. The crest of arms has some losses. Otherwise in very good condition.
