A fantastic set of four antique encaustic tiles. These stunning geometric tiles are made from clay and fired at the end of the 19th century, so arts and crafts. Encaustic tiles were made by impressing a pattern in the unfired clay to a shallow depth using a carved wooden mould. These are reclaimed tile and have been salvaged, they are stamped with the letter C to the back. They have a wonderful muted colour and are heavy and thick. Great to incorporate into a modern home or use for display to add soul and character.
Condition
One tile has a large chip to the surface. They show their age. Shows lots of signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. For age the surfaces are in great condition.
Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
