Here for sale is a fantastic trio of 19th Century glass bell jar lanterns, with makers marks for Val St Lambert, Made in Belgium. Val St Lambert is a Belgium Crystal manufacturer founded in 1826. Price is per lantern, we would accept offers for the three.
These glass bell jar lanterns are made in around 1860. Originally they would have been used with a candle and were probably made for the British colonial market. They have thick hand blown crystal glass with a glass smoke cap. They have wonderful etched design with grape and leaf pattern and bronze hanging fittings. The lanterns have been later converted to electricity with modern wiring making them more usable in a modern setting, but these could be removed for a traditional look.
These would look fantastic in a hall, above a table or on a veranda. Perfect to add soul and character to a modern interior.
Condition
The glass is in good condition. The conversion to electricity is later with later modern wiring and fittings. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
Dimensions
28 cm diameter of bottom bell, 35 cm drop, 50 cm drop including brass hook at top and smoke cover
