A lovely old bank of shop drawers. With label for the maker, Frederick Sage & Sons. Sage was a renowned company making shop fittings and was first established in 1860. At the turn of the century, they fitted out Harrods and Selfridges in London.
This bank of wooden drawers consits of 19 sliding trays. Each tray has curved sides and dovetail joints. The front is made from oak, with beech ply tray sides and pine drawer batons. The whole piece formed part of a much larger cabinet and dated from the first part of the 20th Century. This would have been used in a haberdashery or gentlemen's outfitters for storage and display.
It breaks into two for transport, with the top two sections and one bottom section with plinth. We have given it a light wax and clean, as the wood has a wonderful warm hue and tone. A stunning period piece which is just so useful for storage. Perfect to incorporate into a modern interior to add a burst of personality and soul.
Condition
Very much as found. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
