A fantastic antique bench. Stamped by the maker, Thonet underneath. This fabulous period bentwood bench was made by German-Austrian cabinet maker Gerbruder Thonet around 1910 in Vienna. It uses the unique craftsman technique of steaming wood or bentwood. The backrest has a beautiful curled design which make a heart and is very much a love seat and model number 16. It has a cane seat which is in good condition for its age. The slightly tapered legs and cut out back rest gives the bench a wonderful elegant design which is still current today. A rare period piece perfect to add soul and character to any modern interior.   
Condition
Some small areas of splitting to wood. Historic woodworm to back, which has been treated. Areas of over painting to the ebonised finish. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
