Here for sale is a fantastic antique microscope. Stamped by the maker, Swift & Sons, University Street, London, W.C. The company was at this address 1877-1881 so therefore dates from this period. The main body is made from brass and a black Japanned metal. Captain Scott was supplied with Swift Microscopes for use on the R.R.S. Discovery for the 1901-1904 expedition, named in the catalogue of the time as the 'Discovery' model. This is a super example and comes with its mahogany carry case and one eye piece but it has lots of missing pieces and really for parts and spares.
Condition
Untested and very much as found. Lots of pieces missing. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
