A fantastic antique stool by John Carter of London. John Carter was a cabinet maker and inventor operating out of Cavendish Road, London from 1858. The firm specialised in furniture customised for use for injured military personnel. This stool is designed to be used to raise a leg and can be adjusted for the best position. Bearing an ivorine label for Carter and was part of the 'Literary Machine' Range. Carter invented many different reading tables, all adustable and made from quality woods. Dating from the turn of the century during the Edwardian period. The cane is in good condition and really useful to folding away when not in use. A rare find by a famous maker. Perfect to incorporate into a modern interior to add soul and character to a space.
