Authentic Mid-19th-Century French Faux Painted Mirror (Napoleon III Era). An exceptional mid-19th-century French wall mirror featuring a striking, hand-painted faux finish. This mirror is designed in the timeless Louis Philippe style, immediately recognizable by its clean lines, square bottom corners, and softly rounded upper shoulders. While the shape originated in the 1830s, the aesthetic finish on this specific piece—featuring a deep ebonized outer frame paired with a rich, hand-painted faux tortoiseshell inner band—is highly characteristic of the Napoleon III period (1852–1870).Beautiful antique condition, presenting a wonderful original patina. The glass exhibits subtle, authentic foxing and clouding characteristic of antique silvered glass, giving it incredible depth without sacrificing functionality. The mirror retains its original wooden backing planks.Condition
There are some minor cracks and areas of paint loss as expected with a piece of this age; however, these do not detract from the overall appearance. There are some historical woodworm holes present on the back, which have been fully treated for peace of mind. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
