A fantastic antique tile. Marked by the maker, Malkin. The business was originally started as Malkin, Edge & Co in 1866. Sydney Malkin and Joseph Edge were the grandsons of the original potters. The business was based in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. The has lovely yellow daffodils and a wonderful depth of colour. Dating from the end of the Victorian period. It is Majolica moulded relief and with tin plate glaze. It has been salvaged from a fireplace. A fabulous period piece, prefect to incorporate into a modern home to add soul and character to a space.
Condition
This is a salvage piece that shows signs of its past life as part of a fireplace. It has crazing and areas of missing glaze to surface. Signs of smoke and cement to back. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
