An exceptional piece of late-19th-century British sporting history, this antique Orme & Sons Combined Billiards and Life Pool Scoreboard is crafted from beautiful solid English oak.
Bearing the prestigious "ORME & SONS" manufacturer stamp and production serial number 4395, this highly collectible board dates to the 1880s. Orme & Sons of Manchester were renowned Royal Warrant holders and masters of cue sports cabinetry.
This is a multi-tier combination board featuring individual life pool player tracks (1-21), mechanical scoring rollers (0-100), slide-out wood slats for player "lives," and a central black slate chalkboard.
While perfect for a traditional billiards enthusiast, this scoreboard offers immense aesthetic value as a statement piece for modern interior design, boutique commercial fit-outs, or hospitality venues. The slate chalkboard is ideal for displaying daily food specials, cocktail lists, or wine menus, giving historic charm a practical modern use.
The oak grain has a beautiful, rich amber patina accumulated over 140+ years.
Condition
Two of the sliding slats are missing their small turned wooden knob button (see close-up photo). Shows general signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
