Here for sale is a fantastic antique writing slope. Covered in a black diamond embossed leather with brass carry handle to the top. This wonderful domed case once opened reveals a mahogany and leather interior. Unmarked but very much in the manor of Parkins and Gotto. William Parkins and Henry Jenkins Gotto started the business around 1845 in Oxford street, London. They were stationers which extended into writing slopes, tea caddies and library tables. They received royal approval and were Court Stationers in 1893.
This example has two brass topped ink bottles and lift up stationery rack. A lovely Victorian piece, perfect to use and enjoy.
Condition
The outer body is distressed with large areas of missing leather. No Key. Historic repair to seam at back with an area missing. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
