Here for sale is a great antique pewter tankard. Stamped 'VR'and '396'. It has a double scrolled handle and a flared foot. The tankard is also stamped 'Quart' which is an old ale measurement for quarter of a gallon or two pints.
Our research indicates that this tankard would have been for the 'Alexandra Tavern' 162 Victoria Park Road. The Tavern was first opened in 1864. It was renamed 'The Lauriston' in 2006 and is in operation as a public house today. We believe the tankard to date from the second half of the 19th century.
Large dent to one side asit looks to have been dropped. No lid. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
We are a family company and love sourcing unusual pieces which bring a burst of individual style to the most modern of interiors, creating interiors with soul!
