A fantastic antique large foundry sand mould. Made from cast iron and mounted on wood. The design is of a sitting lady and has a wonderful architectural quality. This mould would have been used hundreds of times to to produce the fire place backs. We believe this example dates from the later part of the 19th Century and came from a foundry for making fireplaces and architectural pieces in Hertfordshire. The fabulous timeworn patina which really adds to its charm. A wonderful salvaged item perfect to display in a garden or indoor space to add a burst of personality and character.
