A fantastic set of four antique apothecary bottles. Dating from the  19th century (Victorian or earlier) and are hand blown glass. The bottoms have a “pontil scar” where the pontil was broken from the blown glass. In these cases the bottles would have been made by skilled glass blowers using techniques that would have been in use from the 18th Century.

Two of the bottles or jars bear latin inscriptions of their contents. The pharmacist would need to know the meaning of these and use their handbooks of “materia medica” to keep up to speed with contents. All the bottles have their original top or caps which are a lovely muted green with a gold band. Perfect for display or stage in a bathroom to add soul and character to a space.

Condition

The original labels shows lots of wear but adds to their charm. Tarnishing to metal lids. All bottles are in great condition with no chips or cracks. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.

We are a family company and love sourcing unusual pieces which bring a burst of individual style to the most modern of interiors, creating interiors with soul!
