A fantastic antique apothecary bottle. Dating from the Victorian period with its original gilt edged glass label for 'Eau de Cologne'.  It has a 'label under glass', which shows the bottle is late 19th Century. The  “Label Under Glass” was a technique used so that an elaborate and decorative label would be protected by covering in a thin layer of glass.

It has the makers mark for the 'York Glass Co' embossed to the base. The York Flint glass company was set up in 1835 by Joseph Spence. They specialised in medical and pharmacy measuring vessels. The York Glass Company who operated in the latter 19th century/ early 20th century and would have made these bottles on a large scale as demand grew through the industrial revolution. The label is clear and vibrant. A fabulous period bottle, perfect for any collector or to add soul and character to a modern interior.
