A fantastic antique gun cartridge loader. Made from mahogany and with makers shield to side for James Erskine of Newton Stewart, Scotland. This is part of a larger cartridge loading machine which as patented. Erskine was a renowned gun maker and inventer, born 1812 and died in 1891. He exhibited two gun as the great exhibition of 1851 and won a bronze medal. The patent for a cartridge loading machine was registered in 1866. With pull out wooden door to one side. A fabulous piece with a great history. Perfect as a gift or to use to display cartridges or similar.
Condition
Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
