A fantastic antique filing cabinet. Dating from the turn of the century and made by the Amberg company in mahogany with Walnut drawer fronts. With a wonderful deep ebonised finish that is worn with time and the original gilded stencilling. This rare configuration of 8 drawers can be used as a table top cabinet that makes it perfect for home use for filing or storage.
The Amberg company is an American company that specialised in fine office furniture at the end of the Victorian period and early 20th century.Featuring the patented filing mechanism by which the file is removed and replaced with a new file. The front has a tambour door with strips of wood that have a fabric backing to allow the door to raise and disappear inside the cabinet.
