Here for sale is a fantastic pair of antique mahogany shop display shelves. Made by Bartlett and Sons of Bristol. Rare to find a stunning pair of these shelves.
Bartlett and Sons specialised in shop weighing equipment. John Bartlett was registered from 1861 and by the end of the 19th Century were a successful thriving business which by 1913 were part of Avery. They also made shop display cannisters, but we have never seen their name on furniture before.
We assume that these shelves would have been used in shops to hold the display and storage cannisters. They are beautifully made and were clearly meant for display as well as practical purposes. We believe they date from the late 19th Century.
One of the shelves has lighter patches where it has faded in the sun . The uprights screw together and some of the screws are worn and do not bite. Does not impact on the shelves when they are in use. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
