A beautiful, genuine late-Victorian / early-Edwardian Hatherley "Lattistep" folding stepladder. Designed and patented by Charles Allan Jones of Gloucester, this iconic piece of British social history features the highly sought-after diagonal lattice mechanism that allows it to fold completely flat.
This piece is highly collectible and perfect for interior design styling. It makes an incredible tiered indoor plant stand, a rustic bathroom towel rail, a unique retail window display prop, or farmhouse kitchen decor.
Condition
- Frame: Solid old-growth pine with a gorgeous, rich dark-aged patina.
- Hardware: Features the original ironwork brackets and pivoting joints.
- State: Frame with authentic, time-worn character (minor scuffs and historic wear consistent with age, which only adds to its rustic charm). Top step is spit. Generally joints are loose so only for decorative use.
- Due to its antique age (over 100 years old), this ladder is sold strictly as a decorative interior prop/display piece only and is not intended for climbing.
