A fantastic antique 19th Century Campaign Stationery Cabinet. Made from oak cabinet with heavy brass campaign handles on each side with fall front opening to reveal a fitted interior.
With makers mark for W.H. Gastrell Maker South Kensignton Reg. 228147. Gastrell was a maker of quality stationery furniture. This piece with its heavy strong cabinet and campaign carrying handles was most likely supplied to an Officer for use in Military Campaigns at the end of the 19th Century. It is a quality piece with a Bramah of London lock.
Condition
The fall front has bent slightly and a new catch has been added to keep closed. The original bramah lock is broken. One of the small drop down drawers inside is missing.Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
