A fantastic antique adjustable mahogany reading table. Stamped by the maker, William Tonks and Sons. Tonks founded his firm in 1789 in Birmingham and moved to its large factory in Mosely Street in 1861.  They won gold medals at the 1851 and 1862 Exhibitions in London and in 1855 at Paris.

The table adjusts from a side table to a lectern and would have been used as reading table. Dating from around the turn of the century with fabulous cast iron legs. A flexible and useful period table made by a renowned maker. Perfect to add soul and character to any modern interior.

Condition

No book ledge. Area of missing stain and marks to top. Missing black paint to upstand. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
