A fantastic antique travelling box and case. The box is made from leather and is stamped in gold gilt with the makers name, W. Truefitt of 1 Bond Street, London. William Frances Truefitt started his barbers business in 1805. He was the hairdresser to the Royal Court and recieved a Royal Warrant from King George the third. The company later merged with Edwin Hill to form Truefitt and Hill in 1935. This travel case and bottle dates from the late Victorian period. This piece was used to carry a toiletry product such as hair tonic or event a sent. It would have been used by a high society gentlemen, as Truefitt had clients from the parliament, ambassadors and famous writers such as Charles Dickens. A lovely period piece, perfect for any collector or to use and enjoy.

Condition

Area of missing leather to base and inside edge of lid. Original cork to bottle is old. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
