Here for sale is a stunning and original antique travel trunk wardrobe made by the renowned maker John Pound & Co, London complete with original travel labels and fitted interior.

Sir John Pound was the son of the founder, taking over the business in the 1860s. By 1871 the company was one of the biggest of its kind in the UK, and operated from three factories and had stores all across central London. He became Lord Mayor of London and was subsequently created Baronet in 1915.  This fabulous base dates from the first part of the 20th century.

Great antique item with lots of travel labels and history of its adventures. Made from Vellum  calfs skin and indicate its high quality. The word Vellum is derived from the Latin word vitulinum meaning "made from calf", leading to Old French vélin, "calfskin". The lining is silk and the original hangers are missing. A wonderful example of a period suitcase, perfect for storage or display to use and enjoy.

Staining to silk lining. Missing wooden hangers. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.

51 cm width, 26 cm depth, 81 cm height
