A fantastic antique apothecary chest. Made from mahogany and dates from the late Georgian period around 1820. With brass carry handle and key. The lid opens to reveal an internal with different sizes of compartments. These would have been used to carry bottles of tinctures and remedies, for use by travelling apothecarist or chemists. A small drawer opens to the base where there are two sliding drawer covers. The drawer would have carried dishes and equipment for weighting and breaking up ingredients. This is an early exquisite box, unfortuately it is empty. A wonderful period piece, perfect for any collector or to use and enjoy.

Condition

Historical crack and repair to mahogany to back, above hinges. Small area of missing wood to front above key area. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.

Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
