Antique 1870s Aesthetic Movement Gilt Painted Ebonised Occasional Chair | retrovation
top of page

A fantastic antique chair. The frame is ebonised wood with the most stunning gilt painted design. This chair is typical of the Aesthetic Movement with its elegant sprayed legs shield shaped back. Dating from the 1870s to 1880s. The upholstery in yellow velvet is more recent and sets the chair off beautifully. A stunning period chair has some historical damage to the back rest and therefore for occasional use and display. Perfect to add soul and character to any modern interior such as a hall way or bedroom.

Condition

Historical crack in back rest and some movement to the back rest also. This is an occasional chair  for display and light use. Upholstery is tight and in great condition. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.

Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
