A fantastic antique military trunk. With makers mark for the 'Marshall Improved Air & Water-Tight Chest, Patent no. 114962 1917'. This is a high quality chest made for heavy duty use. With heavy brass locks and metal carrying handles. Bound in wood for extra strength and zinc lined. With small castors on the underside for easy movement. Hand painted to the top with the original owners name, B.F. Cox. These chests were retailed by Army & Navy stores and typically used by officers for travel. The wooden and metal has a wonderful timeworn patina which hints at its past adventures. 
Condition
Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
