A fantastic antique bible. Published in 1771, with historical and critical notes by Reverend Samuel Newton, who was the Rector of Clifton. It is an rare early example of the complete family bible and includes the old and new testament. It is rather distressed and has areas of missing leather to spine and cover. The leather is old and worn and as a stunning simple tooled detail to the front and back. There are many wonderful black and white engravings throughout the book. This is a wonderful example of a rare book, perfect to enjoy and use.
