Here for sale is a fantastic antique fire screen. Dating from the late 18th century from wood and then covered with gesso plaster in a Rocco style and finished with gilt paint. It is a fabulous Georgian English piece in as found condition. It has losses of gesso and gilt paint which we believe adds to its charm. The carved giltwood is just stunning with decorative scrollwork. The hand made tapestry has wonderful flowers and foliage and has a beautiful timeworn patina. This is a rare piece from the 18th century and shows much of its age. A perfect project to restore or enjoy its elegant patina as it is. Perfect to add soul and character to any modern interior.
Condition
Gesso plaster and gilt paint missing and delicate in places. tears and holes to the tapestry. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
