A lovely antique silver plate dish. Fully hallmarked to the base with the makers William Rogers. Rogers was based in the United States and worked throughout the Victorian period with his brothers and leading silversmiths of the time. Dating from the Art Nouveau period but could have been produced earlier. With the most wonderful poppy design to either side. The technique of repousse is used to give the poppies almost 3d look. The silver plate is mounted on copper and can be see coming through in places. The dish has a fabulous timeworn patina. A period piece perfect for displaying candles or your favourite treasures. Adding soul and character to any modern interior.
Condition
Tarnish and wear to surface. Scratches to base. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
