A fantastic antique metamorphic campaign chest of drawers and washstand. With ingenious mechanism by which on raising the top the whole section opens to reveal a marble washstand with mirror.
Made from stunning flame mahogany veneer with its original marble top. On the underside of the lid is its original mirror. Dating from around the middle of the 19th Century, these were often used on steamer ships in a cpatains cabine, as could be opened to use as washstand and then closed. A wonderful period piece perfect to incorporate into a modern home to add soul and character to a space.
Condition
The marble has been damaged and repaired. Some missing veneer in places. Some signs of historic woodworm. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
Please look at photos closely as they form part of the item description.
